Do You Really Know the Mohawk Charlie Story?

I’m not sure we all agree on the tale of Mohawk Charlie. We know he’s our “scary camp story,” but do we remember it all the same? At Mohawk’s volunteer workday in 2024 (held every May!) some alumni shared their versions of our oh-so-famous scary camp story.  Yes, red shoes are involved.  Check out the video and share, it would be great to get more of your story!



Two fun facts:  Wilbur Pike (camper in the 1950s and 1960s) mentioned that when he came to camp in 1959 the Mohawk Charlie story was going strong. Does anyone else know how long it goes back?  Also, for a number of years now the story is first told when you become a CIT.  No more scared kiddos, unless it leaks out of course!
