Patrick's CEO Corner
Winter 2025 Winter arrived early at Camp Mohawk this year! The pond froze sooner than expected, the snow settled in quickly, and camp has been looking especially beautiful in its quiet season. While things may appear still on the surface, there’s been a tremendous amount of activity happening behind the scenes. Enrollment for next summer is already off to a strong start, with Sessions 2, 3, and 4 fully waitlisted. That momentum gives me real confidence that we’ll be full agai

In Memoriam: Beth Reasoner
In early September, our community was dealt another heart breaking loss. Mohawk was blessed to have Beth Reasoner as a camper, CIT, counselor, Unit Leader and CIT Director. During her time at Camp, Beth touched the lives of children of all ages and enriched many of us who were lucky to call her friend. When Beth laughed everyone joined in, and she might break out in song anytime the spirit moved her. Beth, or Elizabeth as she sometimes preferred to be called, was a force of n

Alumni Spotlight: Peggy Bailey
Peggy (left) with Laura Stewart Lynch at the most recent alumni reunion. I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Peggy Bailey, a Mohawker whose experiences and memories of her time at camp mirror so many of my own. Peggy began her time at camp in 1970 as an Oscadee camper. After two additional years of being a Senior camper, Peggy then started her time as a CIT. At that time, the CIT program was a two-year experience, during which Counselors in Training lived in “The Lod

Mid-Century Mohawk Memories
Many things at Camp from the 1950s are still recognizable today. The Dining Hall (built in 1950), the Waterfront (though with different docks and no inflatables), and the Staff Lounge (formerly the Infirmary and then the CIT Lodge) existed then. As far back as 1920, there was a camp store, a farewell banquet, songs, stories, and awards. There were even Jawaks, Mohicans (or Mohegans), Utes (or Utees), and Seniors, although Mugwumps and Oscadees came later. (Nick Prout recalls

Funny Camp Stories
Alumni Question of the Quarter: Winter 2025 Camp always provides Campers and visitors with a packing list including essentials like bedding, bug spray, flashlights and sweatshirts for the chilly evenings. However, decades of Mohawkers have personalized their packing lists with items from home to make their stays more comfortable and fun. From beloved stuff animals to Ouija boards, what quirky item did you always bring to camp? Send an e-mail at alumni@campmohawk.org or lea

Renovated Ute Cabins and Alumni Bricks
Several lucky alums got to spend the weekend in the newly refurbished Ute Cabins at Alumni Weekend. Upgrades include covered porches, expanded footprint to more comfortably fit campers and trunks, private quarters for two counselors, wooden paneling and bunk cubbies, new windows and a fan system to reduce indoor temperatures. Campers and parents were delighted with the refreshed cabins, as were alumni. At the Jawak Shower house, the brick walkway composed of messages from ca
