Winter 2025
Winter arrived early at Camp Mohawk this year! The pond froze sooner than expected, the snow settled in quickly, and camp has been looking especially beautiful in its quiet season. While things may appear still on the surface, there’s been a tremendous amount of activity happening behind the scenes.
Enrollment for next summer is already off to a strong start, with Sessions 2, 3, and 4 fully waitlisted. That momentum gives me real confidence that we’ll be full again in 2026, and it allows us to keep moving forward with important improvements that directly benefit campers.
This off-season, we’re renovating the Mohican cabins, building on the successful work completed in the Ute Unit last year. These upgrades will significantly reduce interior temperatures during summer heat waves, making cabins safer and more comfortable for campers during the hottest days. The barn has also undergone a major structural upgrade, along with the installation of all-new interior stalls. These improvements will give our animals direct access to outdoor pens while also providing new, improved indoor spaces—an important step forward for our barn program.
The Dining Hall screen porch is getting some attention as well, with repairs and a refreshed look that will enhance one of camp’s most beloved gathering spaces. At the same time, we continue to look ahead to the much larger, long-term project of reimagining the Dining Hall itself. While this will take years of planning and fundraising, we are committed to moving thoughtfully and steadily toward that goal.
Our Board of Directors and committees have been incredibly active this fall and winter, dedicating countless hours to strengthening the foundation of Camp Mohawk. Their commitment and care for this place never cease to amaze me, and I’m deeply grateful for their leadership.
As we move toward the end of the year, I want to thank the many donors who have already given in support of Camp Mohawk in 2025, and those who are considering a gift before year’s end. Your generosity makes this work possible and has a direct impact on the campers we serve.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and a warm holiday season!
