There were many familiar faces at Mohawk during Alumni Reunion weekend, but one new face quickly became a favorite of many of the event’s attendees.  After nearly seven decades since her time as a camper, kismet brought Marsha Washburn Thompson back to Mohawk.  A few weeks before the reunion, Marsha was enjoying lunch with her daughter at a local restaurant when she saw several off-duty counselors wearing Camp Mohawk apparel.  When Marsha told them she was once a camper, the counselors told her about the upcoming Alumni Reunion and encouraged Marsha to visit.

Marsha spent the day walking around Camp, doing activities, making new friends and taking photos, which she said she was going to send to her two friends back home who attended Mohawk with her in the 1950s.

During cocktail hour, as alumni gathered around photos from the archives, Marsha was able to find herself in an all-Camp photo from 1953.  Marsha toured all over Camp, remarking on the things that have changed (Moore Lodge, newer cabins, the new Office) and the things that are timeless (the waterfront, the peace of the woods, the ease with which Mohawk makes strangers into friends).

It was wonderful to welcome Marsha back to Mohawk.
