One of Camp Mohawk’s most recent hires is Jo Anderson. Jo works from home part-time in a role without an exact title, but you might already be familiar with some of her work. Jo is responsible for Mohawk’s awesome new website and camp’s marketing efforts, both online and in print. While those are among her official duties, she has also been pressed into service to fill holes created by staff changes this year. In that capacity, we have Jo to thank her for the updated look of this newsletter, the very cool Alumni Weekend T-Shirts, and camper registration. In true Mohawk spirit, Jo just gets it done.

Jo and her daughter at Mother Daughter Weekend

While Jo grew up nearby, she unfortunately did not attend Mohawk as a child. She was, however, a very happy camper at another all-girls overnight camp, Camp Chinqueka, a few miles up the road in Washington, CT, for most of her childhood.

Jo attended Grove City College in Pennsylvania, studying Computer Information Systems. After graduation, Jo worked at Mohawk year-round as the Assistant Director from 2011 to 2013. Jo left when her husband got transferred out of state with the Air Force. After her husband left the service, they returned to Connecticut with their two daughters (ages 4 and 6) and one son (aged 5). Jo considers her new role with Mohawk a nice blend, combining her love of camp with her professional experience, made more perfect by the ability to work part-time from home, a schedule that accommodates her young children. In her limited spare time, Jo makes pottery; you can find her work on Etsy under the name Jo Anderson Pottery.

Jo’s oldest daughter attended day camp at Mohawk this summer and loved it. In fact, Jo was getting ready to pack for Mother-Daughter weekend as she was being interviewed.

Despite never attending Mohawk as a camper, Jo has proven herself to be a true Mohawker through her cheerfulness, work ethic, team-player attitude and, of course, her love of the place. In fact, to quote Jo, she says of herself and her daughters, “We Love Mohawk.”
