Mohawk welcomed its newest year-round staff member in October 2023: Nikki Martin. Nikki’s title is Office Manager and her workload includes a variety of tasks. She handles the constant stream of communication with parents and community members via phone calls and emails. Nikki also works with families seeking camperships, coordinating with other YMCAs to help them get the most scholarship money available.
Nikki grew up in Waterbury, CT, and was a camper and counselor at YMCA Camp Mataucha in Watertown, CT. While she is still learning her way around the grounds at Mohawk, she does have that camp spirit. Nikki attended Manhattanville College for a couple years, and while there, she taught swimming (maybe she can lend a hand at the waterfront if needed!) and studied to be a veterinarian. When she left there, Nikki began work at a Specialty Animal hospital in Newtown, CT, moving from the reception desk to becoming an Assistant in the Internal Medicine Department. Working all day with sick animals can be draining though, and she found herself looking for a change, when she spotted the opening at Mohawk. She’s happy to be in an office with happy and hardworking people, and enjoys the work itself.
Nikki has a two-and-a-half-year-old son and she’s looking forward to him growing up at Mohawk.
